A tradition made by local families, for the next generation

The East Bay Family Garba was created by local families who share a love for Navratri, Garba, and passing these traditions on to the next generation. Now in its 10th year, the event gives children and adults a welcoming place to celebrate, dance, and enjoy live music together, whether you're a family with young kids, a first-time dancer, an experienced Garba lover, or a curious neighbor from the wider community.

What is Navratri?

Navratri is the nine (nav) night (ratri) celebration of the strong, powerful female spirit and life. It is traditionally celebrated through music, dance, and community, with Garba, a traditional Indian/Gujarati folk dance at the heart of the festivities.

What is Garba?

Garba is a traditional Gujarati folk dance that brings people together through music, movement, and community, danced in circles that anyone can join. Whether this is your first Garba or a tradition your family celebrates every year, everyone is welcome.
